Boiled Egg--Rotten Mother

You know, there are times in your motherly life that you realize that you have dropped the ball somewhere. Not exactly sure where I dropped mine, I realized today that I most definitely did.

I love boiled eggs for breakfast. They provide the protein I need while not over saturating my system with grease or sugar like most other breakfast options.
With that being said, I boiled my eggs this morning.
After letting them cool, I began to peel them with eager anticipation.
My darling Nikki entered the kitchen with a smile. She approached me at the trash can to provide an answer to her curiosity as to what her mother was doing.
When she saw me, she asked if she could help. I answered simply, "Sure."

Now, this is where that big, bouncing ball left my possession and rolled right out of the kitchen door. My sweet, 10 year old daughter asks me, "What do I do?"
I wasn't sure I understood the question and asked her, "What do you mean?"
The look in her eyes and the way that she held the egg, gently perched vertically in her fingers, let me know that she was ignorant as to how she should peel the egg she held in her possession.
WHAT??
She really did not know how to peel an egg? I asked her how she made it through ten Easters without eating a single boiled egg and she promptly replied, "I didn't use to like them and when I started to like them, I made Cori peel them for me. She likes to peel eggs. I only like to crack them."

That is an oxy-moron! Her seven year old sister peels her eggs for her!
When she said that she only likes to crack them, she meant for pancakes or scrambled eggs (which she is a pro at by the way--she can do THAT one handed).

Anyway, I had to show my ten year old how to peel a boiled egg today. I am a bad mom!
When I was ten, I was cooking full meals. My first meal was scalloped potatoes and pork chops when I was....8!
I do not want to be one of those moms that gets a call from their college freshmen, "Mom, how do I wash my clothes?"
"Mom, how do I cook blah, blah, blah?"
"Mom, how do I wipe my butt?"

I have failed!
Well, so far. It is not too late!
I am now on a mission to fix what I have over-spoiled and broken!
Tomorrow, I have to cut the apron strings (well, trim the loose threads with nail clippers--baby steps okay!!) and start to teach my daughters how to be independent and, one day, women!

I will keep you posted on our journey.
Smooches and ciao and power to the estrogen filled home that Phillip lives in!
Later tater!

PS
I have accused myself of being random and I have to change that statement to say that I am not ran......I love squirrels. Do you?
(We all have to amuse ourselves in some way. This is mine. Welcome to my insanity!)
