Well, Britt made the jump into short hair. She did it right before she went to her dad's house for the summer. I guess it was something that she had to do. She regrettably had to admit that she regretted the short do the very next day when she could not slap her hair up into her famous ponytail. HA!!I would not be the wonderful, gloating mom that I am if I did not say, "I told you!"
(She loved to hear that. hee hee)
We are going to try to appease her miserable situation when she gets home. We decided that highlights may make the new do bearable.
I, of course, had to point out how slowly hair grows and tried to give her encouraging words....
"Don't worry honey. You will start high school with short hair, but it should be long again by your senior pictures."HA HA!!
She did not like to hear that.
Now, for those of you who either have never "owned" a teenager or who have long forgotten......they know everything!
I have put her off of this hair cut for months now. After all of the whining and complaining and announcements of, "it's MY hair," or "if it is a mistake, then it is MY mistake. You need to let me learn on my own!"
I know my daughter and for those of you who know her too, she LOVES to just slap her hair up into a ponytail. I knew that she would regret a short do.
Don't get me wrong, I think it looks good (despite how old it made her look).
I just knew that she would not be happy with it, at least not long term.
When we were in the beauty shop, the hairdresser cut her hair and Britt insisted that it was not short enough. I warned her about going shorter and she looked at me like, "whatever" and rolled her eyes at me while she attempted to fluff her hair in the mirror. It embarrassed me a little and so I sat back and waved the white flag of defeat.
"Fine, cut it."
I have to admit that it did take her a week to admit that she did not like how short it is.
She must have had a moment of weakness.
Being the mature adult that I am, I simply.....................
giggled and....................giggled and....................
tilted my head and asked with a crinkled brow, "Really?"
"I can't believe you don't like your hair. I think it's cute."
My savage beast then turned her head and again gave me the "whatever" look and rolled her eyes.
Hmmmm, I think I have seen that before.

Well, we all have to amuse ourselves don't we.
I amuse myself on the oh so rare moments of knowing more than my 14 year old.
Life is good.
Smooches and ciao!

I love her hair. It definitely makes her look older. I could use her here now, applying her charm!
